Afro-fusion megastar Damini Ogulu, globally celebrated as Burna Boy, has once again cemented his legendary status by achieving an unprecedented milestone in the Nigerian music industry.
The ‘African Giant’ has officially become the first Nigerian artist ever to secure five career Grammy nominations in album categories. This historic feat was confirmed with the announcement that his latest 2025 album, “No Sign of Weakness,” has been nominated for Best Global Music Album at the upcoming 2025 Grammy Awards.
This new nomination places Burna Boy in an exclusive league, further solidifying his position as a dominant force on the world stage. His journey to this record-breaking moment is paved with critically acclaimed works, including his previous Grammy-nominated albums: African Giant (2019), Twice As Tall (2020), Love, Damini (2022), and I Told Them (2023).
The competition in the Best Global Music Album category is fierce, with Burna Boy facing off against legendary acts like Youssou N’Dour and Shakti. However, his consistent innovation and global influence make him a strong contender for the coveted award.
In a double victory, Burna Boy also secured a nomination in the Best African Music Performance category for his hit track “Love,” alongside other Nigerian heavyweights like Davido, Ayra Starr, and Wizkid, marking a proud moment for Naija music on the global scene.
