A senior chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Buba Galadima, has claimed that former President Muhammadu Buhari played a decisive role in Abba Kabir Yusuf’s emergence as Kano State governor in 2023.
Speaking on Arise News, Galadima said Buhari ensured that the NNPP’s victory was not taken away, unlike what allegedly happened in 2019 when Abdullahi Ganduje retained power. He stated that Buhari, feeling betrayed by Ganduje’s actions and remarks, refused to allow a repeat of injustice.
According to Galadima, Buhari insisted that Abba Yusuf’s mandate be respected, leading to the court processes that eventually affirmed his victory. He described the outcome as divine intervention, stressing that justice prevailed despite intense political pressure.
Galadima further warned that abandoning faith in due process for political alliances could have consequences, insisting that Abba Yusuf’s success was a product of fairness, courage, and what he termed “God’s work through Buhari.”
