BREAKING: Court Stops PENGASSAN From Cutting Gas Supply to Dangote Refinery

The National Industrial Court in Abuja has issued an order restraining the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) from going ahead with its planned strike action against Dangote Petroleum Refinery.

Ruling on an ex-parte application filed by the refinery, Justice Emmanuel Danjuma Subilim barred PENGASSAN from cutting off crude oil and gas supply to the $20 billion facility.

Also listed as defendants in the suit are the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), and the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).

Senior Advocate of Nigeria, George Ibrahim, argued the case on behalf of Dangote Refinery, stressing that the industrial action posed a significant threat to the country’s oil and gas sector.

The court’s decision comes amid rising tensions between the union and management over alleged unfair labour practices. A full hearing on the matter is expected in the coming days.
