Bode George Urges PDP to Respect Court Rulings

A member of the Board of Trustees, BoT, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bode George, emphasized the importance of the party adhering to legal standards and respecting court decisions.

TRENDGOSS reports that George made this statement in response to the ongoing controversy surrounding the party’s National Convention, scheduled for November 15 and 16.

Recently, the PDP has been embroiled in internal political disputes, resulting in a split into two factions.

One faction, loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, is led by Abdulrahman Mohammed, while the other is headed by Umar Damagum.

Adding to the complexity, Justice Peter Odo Lifu of the Federal High Court in Abuja has issued a final order preventing the PDP from proceeding with its 2025 National Convention, which is planned for Ibadan, Oyo State.

In contrast, the Oyo State High Court in Ibadan delivered a ruling on Friday permitting the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to continue with its scheduled 2025 elective National Convention.

During an interview on Politics Today, a Channels Television program, Bode George stated that the PDP cannot seek to govern while disregarding judicial rulings.

He remarked, “We (PDP) are a law-abiding organization. Let us demonstrate to Nigerians that we uphold the rule of law.

“You cannot be a party disobeying court judgment and then you say you want to take over the reins of governance; let us obey the judgment of the court.”
