Benjamin Kalu Vows APC Will Reclaim Abia State in 2027 Elections

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has pledged that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will reclaim Abia State from the Labour Party (LP) in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

Kalu made this declaration during a meeting with over 27 support groups under the Ben Kalu Foundation (BKF) in his hometown of Bende on Sunday. The gathering included members of his Renewed Hope Partners, the Renewed Hope Initiative, and other pro-Tinubu groups aimed at strengthening the APC structure across Abia.

“We have come to take over, and there is no going back because we want to work with the President to move our state forward,” Kalu stated.

He described President Bola Tinubu as the “real miracle worker” for removing the fuel subsidy and redirecting the funds to the states. Kalu emphasized that Abia must align with the Federal Government to benefit from ongoing reforms.

While acknowledging Governor Alex Otti as a friend, Kalu criticized his administration’s performance, claiming that the Labour Party government has “failed to justify the huge allocations it receives monthly.” He noted that previous governors managed the state with less than ₦5 billion monthly, while Otti’s administration now receives about ₦38–₦40 billion from federal sources.

“You cannot be getting this kind of money and perform like those who got far less,” he remarked. “We are the opposition, and we will speak for the masses.”

Kalu also announced that President Tinubu has promised to build a seaport in Abia State, highlighting it as a major infrastructural commitment to the region. He urged APC members to obtain their voter cards and prepare for the 2027 elections, assuring that the takeover would be achieved “through the votes of the people.”

Party leaders including Rev. Trump Eke, Charles Ogbonna, Don Ubani, and Chikezie Mba praised Kalu’s leadership and expressed their full support for his political ambitions.
