Former Big Brother Naija Season 7 housemate, Beauty Tukura, has revealed her struggle with depression following her disqualification from the reality show in 2022.
Naija News reports that the reality TV star discussed these emotional challenges on the Beyond With Ezinne podcast, reflecting on the aftermath of her eviction.
The former Miss Nigeria detailed how public criticism severely impacted her mental health, leading to a difficult emotional period.
Beauty, hailing from Taraba, expressed her feelings of shame and inability to face her parents post-disqualification.
Yet, she credits her parents’ unwavering love and support for helping her regain her strength and begin healing.
The ex-beauty queen confessed to experiencing daily tears and suicidal thoughts before choosing to embrace the encouragement from supportive fans.
She described this period as the lowest in her life but noted it taught her resilience and self-awareness.
She stated, “The heat was too much, and personally, I felt like nothing I said was going to make sense because all they wanted to do was crucify me like Jesus. It was very hard.”
“I was too ashamed to see them. I didn’t know how to face them. I was in a very bad place.”
“I cried every day. I was thinking of ending it. I actually almost committed suicide.”
“I decided to focus on the love. Since then, I’ve always focused on the positive messages.”
“That was the lowest point of my life, and I’ve decided it will stay that way. There’s no room for such mistakes anymore.”
Beauty’s disqualification occurred during the Level Up edition of BBNaija in August 2022 after she received two strikes for violent behaviour towards fellow housemates Ilebaye and Groovy.
