Big Brother Naija Season 10 housemate Opeyemi Ayanwale, known as Imisi, has bravely shared a painful chapter from her childhood during a recent task in the house. The emotional revelation came after the Head of House challenge, where housemates were encouraged to discuss their personal lives.
Imisi recounted a traumatic experience at the age of 13, when she was sexually assaulted, resulting in a pregnancy that she ultimately had to terminate. She described being expelled from her home at a young age and taken in by a stranger.
“The first time I was sent out from the house was when I was about 12. There was someone that took me in on the third day to his house, then his mom realized he had brought someone home, then he took me to the church,” Imisi explained.
She detailed being placed in a dark storeroom at the church, where she was left alone overnight. This harrowing experience has left her with lasting trauma, making it difficult for her to be in dark places alone even as an adult.
“I got raped. That was the first time I got raped in my life. I had to go to school the next day, then I was sent to go back home, then I got raped the second time, there in that same room. Then I later realized I was pregnant and I was just 13 years old. I had to abort the child,” Imisi recounted, highlighting the emotional scars that continue to affect her.
Imisi’s story sheds light on the challenges many face in silence and emphasizes the importance of discussing mental health and trauma.
