Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has declared Friday, November 28, 2025, a work-free day to honour the late Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, who passed away at 102. The renowned cleric died on Wednesday night at ATBUTH, Bauchi, and his body has been moved to his family residence on Gombe Road for funeral prayers.
The governor’s office said the work-free day allows government workers, students, and the public to participate in the funeral and pay their respects. Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi was celebrated for his contributions to Islamic scholarship, Qur’anic education, spiritual mentorship, and the promotion of peace and unity across Nigeria and beyond.
The funeral prayer will follow Islamic rites, and citizens are urged to pray for the late scholar’s soul and offer support to his family and followers.
