Fresh details have emerged from the deadly bandit attack on Salka community in Magama Local Government Area of Niger State on Tuesday, where several residents lost their lives, others sustained injuries, and more than 1,000 cows were rustled.
Survivor’s Chilling Account
One survivor narrated how the attackers argued among themselves before opening fire on him.
“While they were confronting me, one of the bandits told his colleague not to shoot, but he went ahead and pulled the trigger,” he recounted. “Before I was finally shot, I tried to hold him, but they overpowered me. They later left me behind.”
Another victim was also shot and has been transferred to Yawuri General Hospital in Kebbi State for treatment.
How the Attack Unfolded
Residents revealed that the heavily armed bandits stormed the community on motorcycles, shooting sporadically to instill fear. Secretly recorded video clips show the attackers firing at random before fleeing with the rustled cattle.
The assault was not limited to Salka alone. Neighboring communities such as Ibeto and Koso were also affected, further heightening tension in Magama LGA.
Renewed Calls for Government Action
The brazen attack has sparked fresh demands from locals for urgent intervention from both the Niger State Government and the Federal Government to address the worsening insecurity in the North-Central region.
