Nigerian singer Ayra Starr has expressed her desire to collaborate with Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy, naming him as her top choice for a future project. She shared this during a Billboard interview with Love Island USA’s Chelley Bissainthe while discussing her 2026 Grammy nomination for Best African Music Performance.
The nomination came from her hit song Gimme Dat, a collaboration with Wizkid, released on April 25, 2025. Ayra described the recognition as a career boost, giving her confidence and affirming her path as an artiste.
Speaking on Gimme Dat, Ayra revealed she only learned about the sample from Wyclef Jean and Mary J. Blige’s “911” during recording. She also discovered that the studio used previously belonged to Wyclef, making the experience more meaningful. Despite challenges with her voice during the sessions, Ayra persevered, turning a solo track into a seamless collaboration with Wizkid.
Looking ahead, she emphasized her excitement to work with more artistes while keeping Burna Boy at the top of her list.
