Speaking during an interview on Hot 93.7FM’s Buck N Regg Show, the 23-year-old star revealed that she relocated less than two months ago, describing the move as both a personal and career-driven decision.
Ayra Starr said she initially struggled with the idea of relocating until a moment on stage made her realise New York was the right choice. She added that the city reminds her of Lagos due to its heavy Nigerian and African diaspora presence, making it feel like home.
The Rush hitmaker also disclosed that being based in New York has opened doors to new international collaborations, although she kept the details private. Despite her move, she emphasized that Nigeria remains home, promising to return frequently for creative projects.
