Awujale Stool Dispute: Wasiu Ayinde Petitions Ogun Govt Over Exclusion

Popular Fuji icon, Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde Adesanya, has formally petitioned Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, over his alleged exclusion from the nomination process for the vacant Awujale of Ijebuland stool.

In a petition submitted through his lawyers, W.K. Shittu (SAN) & Co, Adesanya faulted the January 12, 2026 nomination meeting in Ijebu-Ode, alleging serious procedural breaches and denial of access to eligible members of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House.

He claimed that security operatives barred him and other qualified princes and princesses from the venue based on an unfamiliar “delegate” system, which he said contradicts customary law and Ogun State chieftaincy regulations.

Adesanya argued that the process violated the Ogun State Obas and Chiefs Law and his constitutional right to fair hearing. He urged the state government to nullify the exercise and order a fresh, inclusive nomination, warning of possible court action if grievances are ignored.
