Atiku Slams Killings, Calls Insecurity Unforgivable Failure

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has condemned the recent wave of deadly attacks across parts of Kwara, Katsina and Benue states, describing the situation as a national tragedy that demands urgent action.

Reacting to the killings in Woro, Kwara State and neighbouring communities, Atiku said the continued loss of innocent lives reflects a serious breakdown in Nigeria’s security architecture. He stressed that even a single death caused by insecurity is unacceptable in a democratic society.

According to him, repeated attacks and mass burials show that government responses have remained largely reactive rather than preventive. He urged the Federal Government and security agencies to adopt proactive strategies that protect vulnerable communities before violence occurs.

Atiku called for coordinated action involving federal, state and community structures to stop what he described as Nigeria’s descent into a “killing field.” He maintained that security must move beyond routine condemnations to decisive operations that deter criminals.

Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu has ordered the military to eliminate the terrorists behind the Kwara attacks. Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq confirmed that troops under Operation Savannah Shield have already been deployed to restore peace.
