Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, in collaboration with Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke, have successfully arrested a suspected high-profile terrorist in Taraba State, dealing a major blow to criminal activities in the region.
The arrest, confirmed by Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, was carried out on Wednesday, September 18, 2025, at Takum Junction in Wukari Local Government Area, following credible intelligence.
According to the Army, the 35-year-old suspect, identified as Saawuan Wuaiyolna, was intercepted while riding a motorcycle. Preliminary investigations revealed that he hails from Ateryange community in Ukum LGA, Benue State, and is allegedly a key member of the gang led by wanted terrorist kingpin Akiki Utivi, popularly known as “Full Fire.”
Military sources disclosed that Wuaiyolna had sneaked into Wukari to gather intelligence on troop movements, with the aim of coordinating future attacks on innocent civilians.
Major Breakthrough
The Army described the arrest as a significant victory under Operation LAFIYA NAKOWA, stressing that it has disrupted terrorist and criminal networks across the North-Central region.
The Commander of 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended his men for their swift and decisive action.
He also reassured the public of the Army’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property.
Call for Support
Brigadier General Uwa appealed to residents of Taraba and surrounding states to remain vigilant and continue sharing credible intelligence with security agencies.
“We urge members of the public to sustain their cooperation by providing timely and reliable information that will aid our operations,” he stated.
