Troops of the 6 Division, Nigerian Army, have intensified the fight against oil theft in the Niger Delta, destroying 22 illegal refining sites and arresting 19 suspects across multiple states. The operations, conducted between November 23 and December 28, 2025, were carried out in collaboration with other security agencies.
According to the Army, more than 180,000 litres of stolen crude oil, condensates and refined products worth over ₦150 million were recovered. Major breakthroughs were recorded in Bayelsa, Rivers, Delta and Akwa Ibom states, where illegal refineries, storage pits, boats and trucks used for oil theft were dismantled.
The General Officer Commanding, 6 Division, Major General Emmanuel Emekah, commended the troops and urged sustained action to protect national assets, stressing that the crackdown is critical to Nigeria’s economic stability.
