Fresh cracks have emerged within the All Progressives Congress as top party figures issue a strong warning to President Bola Tinubu over the political conduct of Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, in Rivers State.
An APC National Working Committee member disclosed that the party may soon compel the President to choose between the party leadership and the FCT minister, accusing Wike of actions capable of destabilising party unity. The warning follows Wike’s claim that Governor Siminalayi Fubara would not secure a second term, a statement that angered APC loyalists in Rivers.
Party strategists argue that allowing a non registered member to dominate political calculations in the oil rich state could weaken APC’s prospects ahead of the next general election. Former PDP chieftain Eddy Olafeso also described Wike as politically isolated.
