Former Acting National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Waziri Bulama, has dismissed speculations about the revival of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), declaring that the party “no longer exists.”
Bulama, who spoke on Arise News on Wednesday, stressed that the CPC was completely dissolved in 2013, alongside the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and other parties, to form the APC. He insisted that its structures, lawmakers, and governors were fully integrated into the ruling party.
“The CPC as a party no longer exists. CPC is history. What we have today is APC, and all the ideals, aspirations, commitments and undertakings of the defunct CPC have been absorbed by the APC,” Bulama stated.
He further emphasized that even former President Muhammadu Buhari, before his death, publicly declared that his loyalty and political convictions were tied to the APC.
“Even President Muhammadu Buhari himself, while alive, came out and stated that his loyalty, commitment, and convictions remain with the APC. So that seals the issue,” he added.
Bulama said recent moves by some individuals claiming to speak for the CPC bloc were deliberate attempts to sow disunity within the APC.
According to him, party stakeholders had to rally under Senator Tanko Al-Makura to counter what he described as “false and mischievous attempts” to disrupt the ruling party by invoking the CPC’s name.
He concluded that the APC remains the only platform carrying the vision and legacy of all the merging parties.
