The Ekiti State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, has arrested 16 suspected bandits who allegedly attempted to enter the state from neighbouring Kwara.
The suspects were intercepted by operatives of the Amotekun Oye Local Government Command following reports of strange movements around Gede Farm settlement in Isan-Ekiti. Residents reportedly raised alarm after sighting a large group of unfamiliar individuals moving with cattle, triggering panic in the area.
Acting swiftly, Amotekun operatives alerted nearby commands and deployed reinforcements, leading to a coordinated operation that resulted in the arrests. Preliminary findings indicated that the suspects fled Kwara State due to intensified security operations against banditry.
During interrogation, the suspects allegedly confessed to involvement in cattle rustling, while some of the recovered cows were said to have been stolen in Kwara. Items recovered include cash, seven mobile phones, assorted charms, three Vigilante Group of Nigeria identity cards and several cows.
The suspects and exhibits have been handed over to the Ekiti State Police Command for further investigation.
