Former Newcastle United striker and Premier League legend, Alan Shearer, has shared his thoughts on the standout fixtures of Matchday 5, which promises blockbuster action this weekend.
The football icon, speaking to BetFair, gave his predictions for some of the biggest matches, including the Merseyside derby, the clash at Old Trafford, and the heavyweight battle at the Emirates Stadium.
Liverpool vs Everton – Merseyside Derby
Shearer believes Liverpool’s strong home form at Anfield gives them the edge over Everton.
“Liverpool v Everton. Tough one to call but Liverpool at Anfield… I’ll go for a home win. Prediction: Liverpool win,” he said.
Manchester United vs Chelsea – Old Rivalry
The former England captain feels Saturday evening’s clash between Manchester United and Chelsea could end in a stalemate, especially with Chelsea coming off a tough midweek Champions League game.

Arsenal vs Manchester City – Heavyweight Clash
On Sunday, Arsenal host reigning champions Manchester City at the Emirates. Shearer tipped the game to be another tight contest that could finish level.
