British heavyweight boxing star Anthony Joshua has been hit by tragedy following a fatal car crash on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway that claimed the lives of two key members of his team. Matchroom Boxing confirmed the deceased as Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele, both long-time trainers and close friends of the former world champion.
The accident reportedly occurred near Lagos when their vehicle collided with a stationary lorry while overtaking. Joshua sustained injuries and was rushed to hospital but is said to be in stable condition and under observation in Nigeria.
Tributes have poured in from the global boxing community, describing the late Ghami and Ayodele as loyal professionals who played vital roles in Joshua’s career. President Bola Tinubu also spoke with the boxer to express condolences and wish him a quick recovery.
