“Afrobeats Is Losing Its Spark — Slimcase Warns Nigerian Musicians to Slow Down”

Popular Nigerian singer, Slimcase, has sparked online debate after declaring that the Afrobeats genre is becoming monotonous. The street-hop artiste expressed concern over the continuous flood of new songs and albums from Afrobeats stars, which he believes is diluting the uniqueness of the sound.

In a post shared on his Instagram story, Slimcase urged artists to take a break and focus on creating quality rather than quantity. Using Rihanna as an example, he advised them to diversify their interests and return with refreshed energy and creativity.

“Too many songs and albums,” he wrote. “You’re putting yourselves under unnecessary pressure. Take a chill pill and be like Rihanna. Do other things and come back with a fresh vibe. Your sounds are getting boring because they’re coming too frequently. It’s only God that is new every morning.”

His comments have since triggered mixed reactions among fans and fellow musicians, reigniting conversations about the current direction of Afrobeats.
