The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has cautioned Nigerians against attaching spiritual weight to sensational prophecies, using the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations as a reference point.

Speaking at a programme held at the RCCG Redemption City, Adeboye advised Christians to apply wisdom and discernment when hearing prophetic claims, noting a growing trend of dramatic predictions that often lack spiritual depth.

He referenced a viral prophecy circulated ahead of the AFCON tournament which warned against selecting Super Eagles star Ademola Lookman. According to Adeboye, he laughed when he heard the prediction, stressing that not every prophecy deserves attention.

On the pitch, Lookman went on to deliver match-winning performances for Nigeria, reinforcing Adeboye’s message that faith should not be mixed with fear or unfounded spiritual claims.
