Ademola Lookman announced himself in style as Atletico Madrid stormed into the Copa del Rey semi-finals with a crushing 5–0 win over Real Betis in Seville.
The Nigerian forward, making his debut after a high-profile move from Atalanta, scored one of three first-half goals that effectively settled the contest before the break. Atletico were ruthless from the start, with David Hancko and Giuliano Simeone also finding the net in a dominant opening display.
Lookman’s goal stood out. The African Footballer of the Year showed confidence and class, gliding past two defenders before calmly finishing past the goalkeeper. His pace and directness immediately caught the eye.
After the interval, Lookman turned provider, leading a rapid counter-attack and setting up Antoine Griezmann for Atletico’s fourth. Thiago Almada added the fifth late on to complete a statement victory.
