Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has officially confirmed his defection to the Accord Party, announcing it through his verified X account on Tuesday. The governor revealed that he joined the Accord Party on November 6, 2025—over a month before his public declaration—to pursue his second-term ambition in the August 2026 governorship election. According to Adeleke, the move followed weeks of consultations with stakeholders and community leaders.
He stated that the Accord Party’s philosophy of welfarism aligns strongly with his administration’s focus on citizens’ and workers’ welfare. Adeleke praised the party’s leadership for embracing him and emphasized that the new alliance aims to consolidate ongoing development and ensure inclusive governance.
Adeleke resigned from the PDP on December 2, citing persistent leadership crises. He expressed gratitude to the PDP for the platforms on which he served as Senator and later as Governor.
