ADC Leadership Dispute: Abdullahi Claims Kachikwu Has No Influence

The National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bolaji Abdullahi, has asserted that Dumebi Kachikwu, the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, lacks any influence over the party’s leadership decisions.

This statement follows Kachikwu’s recent criticism of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for recognizing David Mark as the ADC national chairman. Kachikwu labeled INEC as irresponsible and expressed his lack of faith in the current leadership of the electoral body.

In a press interaction on Saturday in Abuja, Abdullahi clarified that Kachikwu is no longer a member of the ADC. He emphasized that having previously held the presidential candidacy does not grant Kachikwu ownership or influence within the party.

“He (Kachikwu) had no business in this conversation. He is not even a member of the ADC. That is very clear. A one-time presidential candidate of any party does not own the party. He does not have a say in the direction of the party,” Abdullahi stated.

Abdullahi also criticized Kachikwu for what he termed “divisive rhetoric,” particularly for referring to the party’s leadership as “old people.” He noted that the ADC is aware of the challenges posed by forces seeking to destabilize opposition parties and is prepared to combat these threats.
