Abuja Woman Hospitalised After Domestic Violence Attack Over Pregnancy Dispute

A woman identified as Mrs. Charity Olotu Fasasi has been hospitalised after she was allegedly assaulted by her husband, David Fasasi Azeez, in Ushafa, Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The incident reportedly occurred over the weekend after a heated argument between the couple.

Neighbours told DAILY POST that the suspect, now declared wanted by the Police, has a history of physically abusing his wife. They described the latest assault as part of a long-standing pattern of domestic violence.

One neighbour, who pleaded anonymity, said the quarrel stemmed from a disagreement over family planning. According to the source, the mother of four had informed her husband that she was pregnant again, but he allegedly insisted she terminate the pregnancy.

“She said she was not going to terminate the baby and the husband got angry that he was not ready for another child,” the source said.

Another neighbour claimed that Azeez offered his wife N5,000 to abort the pregnancy, but she declined. Under pressure, she allegedly took some medication to terminate it, which led to complications and excessive bleeding.

“When the drug started reacting and she began bleeding, the man made a u-turn and questioned why she later changed her mind. This is where the present issue started from. But it’s not a new thing—everyone here knows he usually beats the woman, but she has not been speaking out,” the source added.

As of Monday morning, the suspect’s whereabouts remain unknown. The matter has been reported to the Ushafa Police Division, but the FCT Police Command’s spokesperson has yet to respond to enquiries.
