Peter Obi Condemns Incompetence, Reacts to Trump’s Military Threat
The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, has broken his silence concerning the recent threat by former United States President, Donald Trump, to take military action against Nigeria.
In a lengthy post on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, the former Anambra State governor expressed deep concern over Trump’s pronouncement, which labeled Nigeria a ‘Country of Particular Concern’ (CPC) and hinted at a potential invasion to halt the killings of Christians.
Obi strongly condemned the pervasive insecurity in the country, revealing that over 10,000 Nigerians have been killed since May 2023. He emphasized that while the security challenges did not originate with the current administration, the situation has been worsened by a glaring lack of effective leadership.
“What is most unfortunate is the lack and absence of competence, commitment, prudent use of resources, patriotism and passion on the part of the APC-led government,” Obi stated unequivocally.
He asserted that Trump’s threat should be a matter of serious concern for every well-meaning Nigerian, calling it a direct consequence of the government’s failure to protect its citizens and secure the nation’s sovereignty.
