Breaking: NUPENG Suspends Nationwide Strike After High-Level Meeting With Dangote, DSS, and FG Officials

The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has suspended its nationwide strike, which had threatened to disrupt fuel supply across the country.

Naija News recalls that NUPENG declared an indefinite industrial action on Monday in protest against the refusal of the Dangote Group to allow its workers to join the union.

The strike was suspended after an emergency meeting convened by the Department of State Services (DSS). The high-level dialogue also had in attendance the Minister of Labour, the Minister of Finance, and officials of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).

According to reports, Seyu Dantata led the Dangote Group’s management team during the negotiations.

Details of the agreement reached have not yet been made public, but the suspension of the strike comes as a relief to Nigerians, who had expressed fears of looming fuel scarcity.

More updates are expected as the situation unfolds.
