A major breakthrough has been recorded in Abuja as FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) reached an agreement to end the dispute that disrupted activities in the Federal Capital Territory.
The resolution followed a marathon meeting lasting over three hours, convened by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on FCT, Senator Mohammed Bomoi. Sources revealed the talks started on a tense note, but calm prevailed after strong intervention, leading to a truce in the early hours of Tuesday.
Key labour leaders, including NLC President Joe Ajaero and TUC President Festus Osifo, were present. At the end of the meeting, both sides agreed that no worker will be victimised, while all pending cases at the National Industrial Court will be withdrawn.
Labour leaders confirmed that FCT workers have been directed to resume work immediately, marking a return to normalcy in Abuja. The minister also assured unions of mutual respect and sustained engagement going forward.
