Presidency Clarifies: No Nigerian Ambassador Yet Posted To Turkey
The Nigerian Presidency has corrected earlier reports, confirming that no ambassador-designate has been assigned to Turkey. The announcement follows a naming mix-up, with the posting still under review.
Spokesperson Bayo Onanuga clarified that President Bola Tinubu has so far approved only three ambassadorial appointments out of 68 confirmed by the Senate. Ayodele Oke is heading to France, Colonel Lateef Are (rtd) to the USA, and Aminu Dalhatu to the UK.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been directed to notify the respective countries in line with diplomatic procedures. A formal announcement regarding Turkey will be made once the review is concluded.
The development comes after an earlier statement erroneously claimed that former Kebbi Governor, Usman Isa Dakingari Suleiman, had been posted to Turkey ahead of President Tinubu’s planned state visit.
