Nigerian midfielder Fisayo Dele Bashiru has expressed disappointment after his brother, Tom Dele Bashiru, was dropped from the final Super Eagles squad for the Africa Cup of Nations.
Both brothers were initially named in the provisional list, raising hopes of a historic family moment in national colours. However, only Fisayo made the final selection for the tournament in Morocco.
The Lazio midfielder has featured in Nigeria’s group stage victories, helping the Super Eagles finish top of their group. Despite his strong performances, Fisayo admitted it was painful that his brother was left out, especially as their family had eagerly anticipated seeing them play together for Nigeria.
He added that the setback has not dampened their ambition, stressing that both brothers remain focused on future opportunities with the national team as Nigeria push for continental glory.
