US Embassy Begins Revoking Nigerian Visas Over New Social Media Policy — Top Journalist, Govt Official Affected

The United States Embassy has reportedly started revoking valid visas issued to Nigerian citizens following recent changes in its visa policies.

This shocking development comes shortly after the embassy mandated applicants to disclose their social media handles as part of the DS-160 visa application form.

According to Olufemi Soneye, former Chief Corporate Communication Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), several individuals have already been notified to submit their passports for visa cancellation.

The embassy reportedly cited “new information” under Title 22, Section 41.122 as the reason for the cancellations but provided no further details.

Those affected include a prominent journalist, a government agency head scheduled to deliver an international speech, and an Abuja-based entrepreneur with a clean travel history.

Meanwhile, despite the uproar, the US Embassy has yet to issue an official statement regarding the sudden revocations.
