Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has directed all schools in the state to close on or before Friday due to rising security concerns across Northern Nigeria.
The announcement was made by SUBEB Chairman Dr. Esrom Toro during a meeting with Local Education Secretaries. He explained that the governor’s directive follows recent attacks and abductions targeting schools in some states.
Toro stressed that the measure is purely precautionary, reassuring parents that there is no cause for panic. Schools have been instructed to conclude all examinations by Friday.
He also revealed that a Taskforce Committee on School Revitalisation will begin assessing selected schools to strengthen infrastructure and improve safety when classes resume.
