“Tinubu is Not Invincible,” Amaechi Declares, Urges Massive Voter Turnout to Stop Second Term

A former Governor of Rivers State and prominent political figure, Rotimi Amaechi, has issued a strong call to action, urging Nigerians to actively participate in the next general election to prevent President Bola Tinubu from securing a second term in office.

Speaking at the fifth-anniversary lecture of the First Daily newspaper in Abuja, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain argued that voter apathy is the greatest enabler of electoral malpractice. He stated, “The more you say they have written the results, the more you have voter apathy. Voter apathy will make President Bola Tinubu return to Villa.”

Amaechi pointed to the 2023 presidential election results in Lagos State as clear evidence that the President can be defeated. “Tell the people the power is in your hands. Come out. If Tinubu is that invincible, how was he defeated in Lagos? It can be repeated but first and foremost you must agree that the man there is not invincible,” he challenged the populace.

He further expressed skepticism about the possibility of electoral reform from the incumbent government, noting, “The problem with election in Nigeria is that there is no incumbent government that can achieve electoral reform. None. We already tried it and failed.”

Shifting blame to the political opposition, Amaechi criticized their lack of a cohesive strategy. “I tell the opposition parties that you’re the problem. The opposition party is not discussing how to save Nigeria. Nobody is saying oh things are bad, how do we change the candidate,” he asserted, highlighting internal divisions as a key weakness.
