In a surprising verdict following a weekend of Premier League drama, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has firmly declared Arsenal as the “best team” in England this season, despite their current position in the table.
The football pundit made this bold statement immediately after watching Manchester City deliver a stunning 3-0 victory over his former club, Liverpool, at the Etihad Stadium.
While the result propelled Pep Guardola’s men to second place, just four points behind the league leaders, Carragher expressed unwavering belief in Mikel Arteta’s squad. He acknowledged on Sky Sports that the relentless pressure from the reigning champions, who have twice overtaken Arsenal in recent title races, would undoubtedly test the Gunners’ nerve.
“Twice in the last three years, they’ve come from behind and caught Arsenal,” Carragher stated, referencing City’s psychological edge. “Liverpool are the champions but City took them to the cleaners. They [Arsenal] might be getting a few flashbacks.”
However, he concluded with a powerful and definitive personal assessment: “I still think Arsenal are the best team I’ve seen in the Premier League this season, no doubt.” This endorsement comes as Arsenal heads into the international break with a four-point lead to protect upon their return.
