The Anambra State Government has declared Friday, November 7th, 2025, a work-free day for all civil servants in the state. This gesture is to enable workers to travel to their various communities and participate in the governorship election scheduled for Saturday, November 8th.
The announcement was made in Awka on Thursday by the Head of Service, Theodora Igwegbe, who stated that the day was approved by Governor Chukwuma Soludo to promote active participation in the democratic process.
Igwegbe emphasized that participation in elections is a vital civic duty and a key contribution to good governance. She directed all political appointees and heads of government agencies to ensure full compliance with the directive.
In a related development, the Nigeria Police Force has deployed advanced tactical teams, helicopters, and drones to Anambra State to bolster security for the election. The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed that the deployment, approved by the Inspector-General of Police, is part of a broader plan to ensure a safe, secure, and credible poll.
