The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has debunked reports that Governor Ademola Adeleke attacked President Bola Tinubu during the recent South-West Summit held in Akure, Ondo State.
In a statement issued by the party’s Media Director, Hezekiah Oladele Bamiji, the PDP described the report as false, malicious, and politically motivated, accusing the All Progressives Congress (APC) spokesperson, Kola Olabisi, of deliberately spreading misinformation.
According to Bamiji, neither Governor Adeleke nor his representative made any disparaging remarks about President Tinubu during the Akure summit. Instead, the governor’s remarks focused on intergovernmental relations and Osun’s experiences with local government administration and federal interactions.
“Throughout the speech at Akure, there was never an attack on Mr President, but details about what Osun State is passing through within the context of intergovernmental relations,” Bamiji clarified.
He explained that the summit’s theme centered on relations between the federal and state governments, and Adeleke’s presentation only highlighted the challenges faced by Osun, including the alleged interference of some APC politicians who, he claimed, vowed to influence the 2026 elections.
The PDP spokesperson noted that Adeleke’s remarks were fact-based and respectful, advocating for constitutional protection, fairness, and improved cooperation between the center and subnational governments.
“Governor Adeleke has shown deep respect for President Tinubu and has never made any disparaging comment against him. Discussing governance issues affecting Osun State does not amount to an attack on the President,” Bamiji added.
The Osun PDP urged the public to disregard the fake reports, describing them as the handiwork of political mischief-makers bent on creating unnecessary tension between the presidency and Governor Adeleke.
“Governor Adeleke’s respect for the President is genuine and rooted in Yoruba values of decorum and respect for elders,” the statement concluded.
