EPL: Maresca Explains Why Tosin Adarabioyo Is Unhappy at Chelsea

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has disclosed that Nigerian defender Tosin Adarabioyo is unhappy at the club due to limited playing time, despite being the oldest outfield player in the squad.

Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League clash against Sunderland, Maresca said the defender’s frustration is understandable, given his experience and expectations.

“It’s with Estevao but it’s almost with all of them. It doesn’t matter the age because if you say to Tosin, who’s the oldest one, that he’s not going to play, he’s not happy,” Maresca said.
“It’s not about the age; it’s about the fact that when they don’t play, they are not happy. But again, they have to understand that they cannot play every game.”

Tosin, 28, joined Chelsea in 2024 and made 15 Premier League appearances in his debut season. However, he has started only three matches so far this campaign, sparking talks about his place in Maresca’s rotation-heavy system.

With Levi Colwill and Benoît Badiashile sidelined due to injuries, Tosin could get a rare starting opportunity this weekend as Chelsea look to maintain momentum in their rebuilding season.
