The National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, has said Nigerians’ resentment toward the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is now evident, stressing that the ADC will benefit from the growing discontent ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during the unveiling of the ADC Secretariat in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Saturday, Aregbesola accused the APC of plunging Nigeria into hardship through greed, incompetence, and poor governance.
He said, “Under the current administration, hunger has taken over the land. Governance has been reduced to personal enrichment and political intimidation. Nigerians are suffering because of leadership failure at all levels under the APC.”
Aregbesola further claimed that the APC’s intolerance toward opposition figures shows it no longer has confidence in its own strength. “If the APC is confident, it won’t be haunting opposition members. Nigerians’ hatred for the ruling party is obvious, and the ADC will harvest that unpopularity,” he added.
Also speaking, former Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, said the inauguration of the ADC Secretariat marks “a new political direction for Kwara,” while Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC’s National Publicity Secretary, said the party now stands as the only credible alternative to the APC.
Abdullahi lamented the growing insecurity in Kwara communities, noting that it has crippled farming and endangered rural livelihoods. “The question is no longer whether Kwarans want the APC—they don’t. The challenge now is convincing them that ADC is the alternative, and we will do that,” he said.
