Atiku, Peter Obi Celebrate Super Eagles’ 4–0 Win Over Benin Republic

Nigeria’s former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, and former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, have congratulated the Super Eagles following their emphatic 4–0 victory over Benin Republic in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

Although the victory was not enough to guarantee automatic qualification, it secured the Super Eagles a place in the World Cup playoffs as one of the best second-placed teams.

Atiku, in a post shared on his X (Twitter) handle, hailed the team’s performance, describing it as a show of unity and determination.

“You showed true Nigerian spirit, strength, dominance, and unity on the field. This is the power of perseverance and teamwork,” he wrote.

Peter Obi also took to social media to commend the team, calling the result a “sweet victory” that lifted the nation’s spirit.

“After a hectic day in Anambra, I watched the Super Eagles game with so much pride. It was such a brilliant and sweet victory against Benin Republic. The performance was really Super, showing that it’s possible. Well done, Super Eagles,” Obi said.

The match saw Victor Osimhen deliver a spectacular hat-trick, with key assists from Samuel Chukwueze and Moses Simon. The victory was one of Nigeria’s strongest performances under Coach Eric Chelle, restoring hope to fans after a challenging qualification run.
