Katsina Governor Dikko Radda Signs ₦137bn Supplementary Budget to Boost Infrastructure Projects

Governor Dikko Umar Radda of Katsina State has signed into law the 2025 Supplementary Budget worth ₦137 billion, shortly after its approval by the State House of Assembly.

The new budget channels ₦126.8 billion to capital expenditure and ₦10.2 billion to recurrent expenditure, reinforcing the state’s focus on infrastructure development and the completion of ongoing projects.

Speaking at the signing ceremony on Tuesday, Governor Radda commended the Katsina State House of Assembly for the swift passage of the bill, describing it as a reflection of their dedication to the state’s progress.

“I commend the Honourable Speaker, Nasir Daura, and all members of the House for their swift legislative action on this critical bill. Your commitment to the development of our state is truly commendable,” Radda stated.

He explained that the supplementary appropriation became necessary after several Ministries, Departments, and Agencies exhausted their earlier capital allocations due to the volume of ongoing projects.

The governor disclosed that the bulk of the funds will be directed towards completing roads, healthcare facilities, schools, water projects, and agricultural programmes aimed at improving rural livelihoods.

Radda assured residents that his administration will execute the budget with transparency and accountability, aligning with his financial management principles.

During plenary, House Leader Shamsuddeen Dabai hailed Radda as one of Nigeria’s best-performing governors, noting that the supplementary budget came at a crucial time to sustain the state’s infrastructural momentum.

A statement by Ibrahim Mohammed, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, revealed that the Committee on Appropriations had earlier reviewed the proposal and recommended its passage.
