Tinubu Mourns Dr. Christopher Kolade, Describes Late Broadcaster as One of Nigeria’s Finest and a Symbol of Integrity

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late broadcaster, diplomat, and corporate leader, Dr. Christopher Kolade, describing him as one of Nigeria’s intellectual treasures and a man of exceptional brilliance and integrity.

In a tribute released on Thursday, President Tinubu expressed deep sorrow over Dr. Kolade’s passing, praising his lifelong dedication to excellence, transparency, and service to the nation.

“I received with profound sadness the news of the passing of the inimitable Dr. Christopher Kolade, a broadcaster and boardroom guru who is one of Nigeria’s intellectual treasures,” the President stated. “He was among the finest of men—exceptionally brilliant, diligent, and of unimpeachable integrity.”

Tinubu highlighted Kolade’s contributions to corporate governance and national development, recalling his roles as Chief Executive and Chairman of Cadbury Nigeria Plc, Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, and Director-General of the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation.

The President also commended Kolade’s humanitarian efforts through the Christopher Kolade Foundation, particularly his support for sickle cell patients, describing him as “a patriot and an uncompromising advocate of accountability.”

“His passing is agonising, yet we must celebrate his life and legacy,” Tinubu said. “He lived an exemplary life and immortalised himself through uncommon service to our nation and humanity. He remains a symbol of resilience and selflessness.”

President Tinubu prayed that God grant the late icon eternal rest and comfort to his family.
