Benjamin Kalu Declares: “APC Will Take Over Abia in 2027”

Benjamin Kalu Vows APC Takeover of Abia State in 2027, Hints at Tinubu’s Seaport Project for South-East

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will wrest control of Abia State from the Labour Party in the 2027 general elections.

Kalu made this known on Sunday during a massive gathering of supporters and APC members at Abia Hotels, Umuahia, where he reaffirmed the ruling party’s readiness to expand its political dominance in the South-East.

He disclosed that President Bola Tinubu is already making plans to establish a seaport in the South-East, a move aimed at boosting regional trade and enhancing economic activity among the predominantly commercial population.

“President Tinubu understands that the South-East is a trading region. He is determined to bring a seaport closer to our people to enhance commerce and development,” Kalu stated.

The Deputy Speaker emphasized that the time had come for Abia State to be fully integrated into mainstream national politics, arguing that such alignment would help the state attract federal projects and investments.

“We are going to take over Abia in 2027. We want to work hand in hand with the President to move our state forward,” he added.

Kalu dismissed claims that the massive crowd at the event was rented, insisting that the turnout was genuine and inspired by shared love for the APC and President Tinubu’s vision.

“When they see us gather, they think it’s about money. It’s not about money. It’s about love for our President and the momentum toward what will come in 2027. The crowd here is organic — we’re here to move Abia and Nigeria forward,” he said.

Political observers say Kalu’s remarks mark the beginning of early political mobilization ahead of the 2027 elections, particularly as the APC intensifies efforts to penetrate South-East states currently dominated by opposition parties.
