PDP Youth Leader Warns Gov. Sim Fubara Against Defection to APC

The Deputy National Youth Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Timothy Osadolor, has cautioned Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, against dumping the PDP for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

His warning comes amid reports that the APC has been wooing Governor Fubara to defect following the party’s victory in the state’s local government elections.

In an interview with Punch, Osadolor stressed that Governor Fubara owes his mandate to Rivers people who voted for him on the PDP platform and would be betraying their trust if he decamps.

“Defection Will Destroy Fubara’s Goodwill” — Osadolor

He said:

“Rivers people who freely elected Sim Fubara saw the APC when they voted and chose PDP. Today, we are comfortable with not only Sim but also the platform he contested on.

If he defects, he will be throwing away his goodwill before the Rivers people. What he owes them now is to deliver good governance and justify the trust reposed in him.”

Osadolor urged the governor to focus on performance, insisting that posterity will vindicate him if he remains committed to good governance.

Criticism of Tinubu’s Intervention

The PDP chieftain also condemned President Bola Tinubu’s intervention in Rivers State’s political crisis, describing the alleged suspension of Governor Fubara and the appointment of a military administrator as unconstitutional.

“The suspension of Governor Fubara was actually done by President Tinubu, who, instead of apologising, is trying to rationalise the illegality perpetrated on Rivers people. That is a brazen rape of our constitution and a serious threat to democracy,” he added.

The development adds another layer to the political tension in Rivers State as Governor Fubara faces mounting pressure over his next political move.
