75 Feared Dead As Terrorists Attack Kwara Communities

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has confirmed that about 75 people were killed during a deadly attack on Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of the state.

The governor disclosed this on Wednesday while paying a condolence visit to the Emir of Kaiama and families affected by the violence. He described the incident as tragic and said President Bola Tinubu has approved a special security task force, Operation Shield Savannah, to secure the area and prevent further attacks.

According to local officials, at least 70 victims were buried in a mass grave on Wednesday. Survivors narrated how attackers stormed the communities, shooting residents and setting houses ablaze, forcing many to flee into nearby bushes or climb trees for safety.

Some residents claimed the attackers came preaching “strange doctrines” and opened fire after facing resistance. Soldiers and forest guards have now taken over the affected areas, while investigations continue.

The state government assured residents of intensified security efforts and urged citizens to remain calm and vigilant.
