47 Federal Colleges Closed Amid Security Concerns

The Federal Government has announced the closure of 47 Federal Unity Colleges due to escalating security issues nationwide.

In a notice released to all principals of Unity Colleges, Hajia Binta Abdulkadir, Director of Secondary Education under the Office of the Minister of Education, confirmed the decision. This move follows recent kidnappings of schoolchildren in Kebbi and Niger states.

The notice stated: “Sequel to the recent security challenges in some parts of the country and the need to prevent any security breach, the Honourable Minister of Education has approved the immediate closure of 47 federal unity colleges.”
