Nigerian music icon, Innocent Ujah Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, turned 50 years old on September 18, 2025, and the celebrations came with heartfelt tributes and renewed conversations about his legacy.
Among the loudest voices was that of his wife, Edo State lawmaker Natasha Osawaru, who took to Instagram to pen an emotional message for the legendary singer.
Natasha jokingly highlighted their 20-year age gap, noting that despite being two decades older, 2Baba looks even younger than her.
In her words:
“Happy birthday to the love of my life. You are 50!!!! Oh wow!!!! You spaced me with 20 years and you look younger than I do. How ironic. Innocent Ujah Idibia my husband, words cannot express the joy you have brought into my life. My joy is complete with you in it. This year was the best year of my life… waking up to you every morning is one of the greatest gifts ever and I thank God for that. Baby I want to spend each day loving you and caring for you for the rest of my life.”
While Natasha’s post drew admiration from fans, 2Baba’s management also issued a strong statement addressing speculations that his marriage controversies have tainted his legacy.
The Head of Legal and Communication at A Guy Entertainment, Chioma Ebubedike-Igbokwe, dismissed such claims, stressing that afrobeats’ global dominance today stands on the foundation laid by pioneers like 2Baba.
She emphasized that 2Baba’s relevance goes beyond social media drama, noting that his team is actively creating platforms where his voice and influence remain indispensable rather than competing with the new generation of artistes.
Despite ongoing debates about his personal life, fans and stakeholders continue to acknowledge 2Baba as one of the pillars of Nigerian music whose contributions will outlive controversies.
