A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Emeka Bekee, has declared that Governor Siminalayi Fubara will contest for a second term in 2027 under the APC platform. Bekee made the disclosure on Wednesday during an interview on Arise Television’s Morning Show, amid the ongoing power rivalry between Fubara and FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
According to Bekee, while internal negotiations at the party’s national level remain unclear, Fubara is expected to purchase APC nomination forms and seek re-election. He noted that the party may adopt consensus or other internal processes, adding that governors who recently defected to the APC could be granted automatic tickets.
Bekee stressed that if such an arrangement is approved, Fubara would benefit from it, insisting no one can deny him a second term if agreements are reached. He urged stakeholders to prioritise stability, saying Rivers State must move forward without prolonged political crisis.
