The All Progressives Congress, APC, has declared that political appointments after the 2027 general elections will be strictly reserved for party members actively involved in its affairs.
National Chairman of the APC, Nentawe Yilwatda, made the position clear during a North-West mobilisation event in Abuja, stressing that governance and politics cannot be separated. According to him, appointments are rewards for political loyalty and electoral contribution, not for technocrats detached from party activities.
Yilwatda said those implementing government policies must defend and promote the party’s campaign promises, warning that appointing non-political actors could weaken the APC’s chances of retaining power. He described the North-West as the backbone of the party’s electoral strength and highlighted the dominance of youths within the region’s membership base.
Also speaking, Hadiza Bala-Usman urged party unity in the North-West, warning that individuals who work for electoral victory should not be sidelined while others benefit without commitment.
