Prominent youth advocate and ADC chieftain, Comrade Usman Okai Austin, has identified former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as a central force in efforts to realign Nigeria’s democracy ahead of the 2027 general elections. Okai disclosed this after a closed-door strategic meeting with Atiku, where discussions focused on building a united opposition capable of challenging the ruling party.
He said the formation of a broad coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) comes at a critical moment, especially amid leadership and structural challenges within the Peoples Democratic Party. According to Okai, Atiku’s intervention has provided a viable political platform for stakeholders affected by the PDP crisis.
Okai noted that Atiku’s experience and national outlook offer Nigerians a credible alternative, stressing that the ADC coalition has kept opposition voices active and relevant. He described Atiku as inclusive, attentive to grassroots concerns, and committed to safeguarding democratic institutions.
